OCCUPATION

As Lewis leaves his home before dawn, inexplicably alert, he finds himself caught up in a maelstrom that causes his normal, local Home Counties life to disintegrate around him. The shocking event he witnesses forces him to confront what his eyes had previously refused to see.

A culture of fear descends on the small town as a foreign army invited in to help the country, takes on the characteristics of an occupying force.

A motley home-grown resistance grows causing each a journey that takes them on a roller coaster ride of emotion and personal risk. Teenagers Judd, Lewis’ dare-devil son and fiercely intelligent Tori; retired Joyce; loved-up Dawn and free-spirit Mac.  At the centre is bookish Lewis, who discovers within himself instincts he had never thought possible. As these ordinary people make their protest, they come to understand that dying might only be a question of time.
